Information on the City of Edmonton

The mandate of the Metropolis Centres in Canada has been renewed for five years effective April 1, 2002. As in the past, the Metropolis Centres will take turns in hosting the National Metropolis Conference. The sixth national conference will be hosted by the Prairie Centre of Excellence for Research on Immigration and Integration (PCERII) in Edmonton in March 2003. The overall theme of this conference is "Immigration and Diversity: Research and Policy in an Era of Globalization." In recognition of the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, the conference will begin on March 21, 2003.

The renewal of the Centres' mandate has been accompanied by new policy-research priorities and expectations as well as by greater emphasis on strategic research planning. In this context, the national conference will provide a forum to discuss and clarify research priorities and expectations with funders and other stakeholders. Accordingly, strategic research planning, among other things, will be addressed in the conference.

Please direct any questions you may have regarding this conference to Ms. Terri Frebrowski by email at pcerii@ualberta.ca or by telephone at (780) 492-6600.

* There will be a $10.00 processing fee added on to all payments made by credit card.
